We did make it out to sea but the our 'cameraman' in the phantom didn't appreciate the swell so decided to hang on instead, hence no piccies, he has been repremanded.

It's 6 knots on most of it but there's a couple of unrestricted zones where you can open it up (waterskiing / the jet ski boys etc)

If you were to believe all the posts on the forum you would think the Camel Rib won't do more than 6 knots !!

Nice photo's, nice day, nice rib. Shame you took the 'bath tub' with you. How far can you cruise up the Tyne from the sea?

Ian,
from the coast you can get about 20miles upstream on a high tide,it's actually quite scenic on the upper reaches of the navigable strech. Next big event on the river is the Tall Ships 2005 who will park up in the middle of town.

Pete:the phantom is having an easier life now that I'm not running it !

Just my kind of cruise....

not a ripple in sight !

Great pictures. Do the Police monitor speed and if so, have you ever been cautioned ?

The police are around on the river and I've had a couple of chats with them in my younger days... There is so little traffic upstream of town now though you hardly ever see any other boats.

2 up and half tank of fuel (say 200 litres) I was getting 34 knots
yesterday. The roll cage causes quite a lot of drag but I sit up there when I'm taking photos !
The little blue phantom does 75 mph one up and is a different kettle of fish...

We took the Camel Trophy sign of the front of ours and it gave us about 2 more knots.

Why do you want to go up the tyne when there is plenty of open sea at the end of it?

Rogue,
I've already taken the sign of the Landie so thought I'd better leave the one on the boat.
