As some of you know I have been building up to this project for a while now. I have been wanting to upgrade from my little flatacraft for ages now as I have completely and literally outgrown it (those of you who came on the first sub 5m (half) round island cruise will vouch for the fact that my mate mike and I look pretty daft squished up in it!). I need something bigger and dryer for photography and cruising. After much thinking on my part and begging the loan department (dad
) the project is now well under way.
Before xmas I became the owner of a '96ish Tohatsu 70hp PT&T outboard to throw on the back of the Shakespeare 520 sportsrib I have just bought. It is sitting on a spangly admiral roller trailer and is presently tubeless (see pics).
My plan is to tube it up myself (with the help of a local tube fitter to get the crucial bit right), design my own console and seating arrangement, build plug for said console, get said console built, build a custom bench seat, get all the bits and bobs and fit it all out myself. Lots to do to get it finished by early summer!
This thread is really just to document my project over the next few months, for those that are interested, and for me to ask stuff/you to tell me when I'm about to mess something up!
Cheers
Tim
