St Anns - 21-10-07

Met up with Woot earlier on to see how he was getting along with his 585 Ribcraft and Suzuki DF 140 powerplant.
As we arrived at Lawrenny, Woot and his team had just finished waterskiing, so we headed down to St Anns to see what the wave height was like. Today the height was showing around 1.5metres, wind around 20knots. During the winter, we sometimes go out when the height is at least twice that.
Unfortunately I am video cameraless at the mo due to the thing being off somewhere to do with work, but the small digicam was on scene to get some pics and small video clips (encoding them during the week).

Heading down river, approaching Milford Haven.

Two tugs (Oakgarth from Liverpool on the far side which is covering for a local tug with mechanical difficulties, and Svitzer Milford, one of the local tugs nearest) waiting in Dale Roads for a large tanker to come into the haven.

Woot makes his first pass.

Preparing the run back.

The run back.

Pass number two.

He's there somewhere.

Ahh, there he is.

Headed off to come back and pick up a camera...

The camera is passed over, and Sea Drive prepares for a run out.

Building speed.

Launcher active

Will hopefully get some more pics when it starts to get more rough and the wind picks up later in the Autumn. Video to come later this week.

Excellent pics.

Been a long time since we have seen some decent waves up this end of the country. Hopefully not too long before they turn up though.

Woot,

If you ever find a way to get those black roller marks off the bottom of the hull let me know. I've tried elbow grease and Polish but haven't had much luck.

Video now here - bit short, digicam ran out of battery.

http://videos.ribseadrive.co.uk/crui...0-07_large.wmv

Thanks for comments, just got to wait for some proper weather now. The boat would have done another 10knots or so yesterday with the engine tucked in at the back, but it doesn't look as good for the camera.

Nice work with the pics and vid Alex they made me grin looking at/watching them. After a session waterskiing followed by messing about in the waves I was feeling a little battered this morning but was still grinning like an idiot. Heres looking forward to the next time.
