Thanks for the show info John, if I feel up to it I might drive down Saturday 21st pm and stay over for a Sunday visit. Hopefully their will be some last minute half price engines to be had...

Fair play for the coverage of the boat show.
Wasn't going to manage to get over, so the coverage is appreciated.
Some nice pics, and some lovely ribs !

I went down to the show today hoping that some of the stalls would be unloading stuff at reduced prices on the last day. If they were, it was still cheaper to buy on Ebay.

However, I only found one stall that was disinterested and unhelpful.

Most were really helpful-Tek Deck, Flexiteek, Navico and Bainbridge Marine to name a few that I was landing odd questions to. Navico even got a tape measure out and opened up the display mountings so I could measure the cutout size for the Lowrance Link 8 VHF with inbuilt AIS reciever.

I spent the day there last Monday and was impressed by the service I got from most of the RIB manufactures we spoke to. It was a quite day, so I could spend time talking to them and haveing a few test rides.

I did make it clear however that I was there to buy a boat, so I sort of expected a good service. Im sure on the weekend there are a lot of window shoppers and people just there for the spectacal.

Brig, Ribeye and Ribex were really helpfull and understanding.

The others were OK, but didnt really seem to realise I was ready to buy, so they didnt go the extra mile to understand my needs and promote their product to the full. One just took my email address and said they would send a brochure - which did seem pointless as I was stood there looking at their boats. Oh well, that just made it easy to narrow it down a bit more.

We also spent ages with Yamaha and Honda, neither of them were able to tell me if they had a dealer near the marina in Corsica where I will keep my boat. They also found it difficult to ring up HQ and ask them ! Yamaha tried hard and ended up Googling it for me. In their defence I suppose most customers will be UK based.

I was a little surprised that Scorpion didnt show more interest when I approached them. Perhaps I just didnt look like their normal / typical customer. So we wondered off after a brief chat a little underwhelmed.

I think a good salesman should be able to spot a potential buyer and steer them to buying their product.

The best service however was from Paul Lemmer and I ended up buying his boat.

I went down a couple of times. I don't know about the rest of you and I'm not being grumpy but I really didn't see anything new that stood out. The techno hull one on the water had a few bits on it but nothing really eye popping. As a rib builder I look deeper than bling. I need to give a little plug to Andre at Parker ribs. There fit outs are getting pretty good

Very neat. Things like that inspire confidence in the quality of a product.

That looks like a Mark Bleaker type of electronics/wiring fit out. He redid one of mine last year and what a change.

Cheers Biff not everybody takes a look into the console. That is our standard wiring done by our guys in Poland. We have improved over the years :-) but that is what is expected from a boatbuilder

I'm going to be bias - but actually the 999 is so much fun to drive - rough water or calm. Also pretty practical - I've over nighted on one and the cabin is very comfortable.

Then the hull is one of the most efficient in terms of fuel use for a twin engined 10m. In fact I doubt if anything could match the fuel consumption / mileage figures.

Brig were there, they were exhibiting directly in front of the green bus, must say was a little disapointed with the build quality, and the way the control cables were run on top of the deck and not sub floor.

Hi, I would like your advice.
I am buying a Technohull 999 and I need some way to protect from the sun while driving.
I saw this picture and I wonder if such or other type of hardtop would have a significant influence on the stability of the boat at high speeds.
Photo Album | Technohull
(the third picture of the boat with the black hard top)
I wouldn't like to make a serious mistake here.
