This may be of interest?

From a sonar and sidescan forum; Dr Depth
It's heavily geared to fishing but this tutorial is an excellent overview of features that could be used for a number of survey needs not just fishies.

Bruce have you looked at Dr Depth's app for mosaiccing sidescan images?

Had a look at it but its pretty expensive, 233 for the SS version and there isn't a Lowrance version available as yet. Does look quite useful though....

I'd not spotted it was HBird only, was planning on getting this app later this year might hold off now for a bit.

Not sure if our club will be buying the module now, shame, but we'll get there in the end somehow.

If you aren't getting the SS unit it still looks worthwhile. The depth logging map making software is a lot cheaper and seems to work almost like a low grade SS by post processing going by the website and demo.

As far as I can tell from DrDepth's website, It's only a few tweaks that's missing from the Lowrance version. The price is 179 EUR for the SS version and 275 EUR for the SS + BT version.

Been out playing with ours, mixed results till we learn how to drive it. We been looikng for stuff our divers know well. The resolution doesnt look as good as the shots in the manual!

I keep thinking I'm missing something in the settings

Latest pic from our unit, the M2 sub out of Weymouth/Portland. Would have been nice to have side imaged it. This is in "Downscan" mode, not quite as much detail but a bit easier to use.

I wasnt on this dive, I'll find out. We try to sonar log dives too but I think the SD card has been missplaced. We are still having mixed results when scanning from the side but shall persevere with settings and distance off the wreck.
