Ah, you need an intensive training course at the Ship, followed by a post grad at the Beadnell Towers.

Back to Amble.

Got a mooring at Amble Marina. Its a nice run up from there to Farne Islands and you can nip in to Seahouses for a coffee and something to eat before heading back.

Lovely coast line with plenty to see. Followed a couple of porpoise when we were out yesterday.

Sounds good.

Roughly takes about an hour and 20 litres ish of fuel.

Its a really nice run though.

Have you got any info on lauching at Amble. Contacts, costs etc. (for the day) Thinking of using amble to access some of the wrecks out of the harbour.

I know Dr Doof will already know this but the slip belongs to the harbour commissioner (separate from mariner) you nock on there door and pay you £11.25 per day and park your rig in the car park next to the slip.

£11.25 a day is ok. We are from York and we dive the wrecks about 8nm south of Seahouses. They are in turn 8nm ish north of Amble. There is not too much between Seahouses and the wrecks but there are more south of them (nearer to Amble)

Seahouses launch charges are about £30 a day, so Amble is seems appealing both on cost and distance, but never been there.

The viz on those wrecks is normally very good too.

Your right Gary, I've grown up diving and sailing around the farnes. Seahouses are getting ridiculous as well as the harbour master been a right arrogant get! Are you with a dive club? I'm in Redcar so distance is good for a day, even when towing.

I am with York Sub Aqua Club. The club has been diving the Farne islands for years. Indeed most of us know the Harbour master before this one very well. The current setup is expensive and not always diver friendly. (I mean Dive RIBs)
We tend to head south and dive the cluster around the Nidelevn these days unless we have new divers and then we would stick to the islands.
We are getting to the point where it would make sense to explore further south and Amble looks good for this but having never been there it is awkward to arrange. I guess I need to do a bit of research and then go for it.

I'm thinking the same, we'll have to have a joint venture. I know you have to be carefull as your leaving the harbour for a mile or so due to a boat grave yard there! U got many marks for wrecks there then ?
