I knew there was something good about not having a huge outboard on the back, we did the whole circumnavigation on about 42 litres

Great photos which made me look up and learn about Porth Wen - quite an industry going on there at the turn of the last century.

Hi Jono - not yet! The sun is shining and we're heading for the RIB.... but I will.

I find our (seemingly) forgotten industrial past fascinating - the massive iron steam machinery, the hopes and aspirations of the factory owners (such as Mr Tidy who made the bricks at Porth Wen), where the workers lived...... it's all quite surreal when you see the ruined and rusty hulks that remain.

I'd never heard of Porth Wen until your post - so I'm looking forward to a little trail of discovery!
