The motors need to be locked over to stbd when near full tilt otherwise they do get a bit tight. Ideally the hose would enter the deck a bit further forward but wasn't possible. Not a major issue tho.

Fantastic news! Finished off the rigging and started both engines and they ran sweet!

Bit of a relief after buying them on ebay from USA 8 months ago!

Sea trials should begin next weekend or the weekend after

Hopefully the weather will improve slightly, it's gusting 60 knots here at the mo

Looking forward to that. Congrats on a nice job. All you need now is to move to a decent climate so you can use it.
Cheers. T.

You'll see feck all if you're out at night unless you have a dimmer on those lights.

Well you couldn't have picked a better day to launch! (I'd just hauled my rib out for the end of the season and was going the other way in my Jeep when you passed me outside the boat park between La Folie and La Collette).

Did the shakedown cruise go ok? A very gentle swell out there, but otherwise so calm - great for a first run. I Have to say it looked bloody huge on the road behind you're range rover.

Well it could have been worse I spose!

To start with I had to wait about 1/2 hr for some fool to launch his 4m speedboat, took him longer to do than my 8.5m! Then when I did get it off the trailer I had to fend him off as apparantly he couldn't drive it either! 8 months of hard work nearly wiped out within 30 seconds of touching water

Quickly followed up by fool number 2 who thinks that we drive on the left with boats as well as cars

A quick trip around the bay soon highlighted a few problems so I didnt get any further than that:

The main problem, oils not getting to the engines from the remote tanks. Worse case scenario is the lines are kinked under the floor somewhere (please God no!!) but as its on both engines I think the opti's auto priming function isnt up to the job. I might fit a bulb inline to help prime it, once its circulated right thru and bled it should carry on by itself.

House battery isn't charging, looks like something to do with the automatic charging relays I fitted so I had no instruments except smartcraft today.

Engines are too high. I had to keep them trimmed right in, as soon as I started bringing them up the props started to slip.

Need to make an extendable draw bar on the trailer. The other day I got a length of 5/8" round bar and formed an eye at each end to go between the car and trailer. The problem is when recovering this doesnt stop the trailer from slewing round when I'm driving the boat up on it. I ended up using the ratchet straps to pull the boat on the last bit. Unfortunately when connecting the strap to the back of the boat I temporarily exceeded the maximum permitted depth of my chest waders

About the only pic of the boat in the water as I was to busy checking my coolant tell tales and the water level in the bilge! Took the bung out on the slip after recovery, not a single drop

ps mines the one on the left!

Yes that was me cos you gave me the . I know what it's like to be towing when other people try to squeeze past even though your rig's wider than the car!

If I could've done a 3 point turn, I'd have come back to watch and lend some moral support.

Yep saw him too. He turned up whilst I was just dipping the trailer into the water, before I then walked round to the pontoon, before then driving to the slip, before then winching onto the trailer, before then leaving (say 30 mins). And he was still up the top faffing.

Well I'm glad it floated even if it had some teething problems. I think the opti oil thing is a common problem on new installs. Isn't there some sort of PDI process to get them primed using a laptop?.

So that that was an hour in total it took him! And he couldn't drive a stick up a dogs a**e, sure he'll make the front page sooner or later

With the ignition on you take it in and out of gear 3 times and the oil pump comes on for a minute or 2. But that could easily not be enough to pull the oil thru 5 metres of tubing. It has to pressurise the remote tanks via the return line as well, there was a little bit of a hiss when I took the cap off but not much.

I assume you opened the breather on the small tank under the hood when you were priming the oil through?

You may have a problem with the hose connections on the remote oil tank(s). May be worth taking a look at them.
