How did it turn out? That sort of thing is a bit out of Keith's normal field but he's not best known for turning anyone away!

I've got 500 worth of pipe in mine and I'm up to around 25-30 hours so far and probably not even half way there! If it was for a customer it could turn out to be very expensive!!

He did a very reasonable job. Not perfect, but certainly acceptable and at least it was exactly to my spec. I think it came in at about 900.

Kind of mini-milestones I feel! Must be on the home stretch

1) Samson post re-powder coated and bolted down

) build plate polished up and refitted. 1 on the fwd deck and 1 on the transom

Few pics of a couple of little details on the A-frame

1&2) cut out at the top of a frame to fit Index cable gland. These are good for fitting cables that have plugs on the end. The single bigger hole should make the fishing a bit easier too.

3&4) Not great pics but my idea for a mounting plate on the side of the a frame wasn't working out to well. to weld it on the vertical part of the frame would have been too low as I plan to have a cleat on each side and keep a sternline coiled and tied to the frame. Putting it higher up on the angled part of the frame would have made the nav lights useless to anyone except light aircraft. So this is what I came up with, a tube crossmember welded to the frame with another short bit of tube coming off the first at a 60 deg angle. the 60 deg 'slash cut' makes the tube oval at the end, fitting the shape of the base of the nav light quite nicely. I threaded some mig welding wire through holes inside the joints as I was putting it together so fingers crossed I should be able to get a pair of wires up the inside to the lights!

Very nice welding. No wonder it's taken a few hours!

Thanks!!

The devil's in the detail - spent about 3 hours the other night making a bracket to hold my bilge pump hoses on the transom. Didn't like the way it came out so I binned it and spent another 3 hours making this one! It'll all be worth it in the end (I keep telling myself!)
