Poole, IOW weekend

Took the RIB down to bournemouth on Friday. I have just had a major engine problem fixed and wanted to make sure everything was working ok before dragging aload of friends down for a watersports weekend.

...Friday at Baiter slip, Poole Harbour, just getting ready to launch

As you got safely back with the pictures, I guess your engine repair was successful!

BTW - has the Baiter slip at Poole Harbour still got those daft spring loaded taps at the wash-down area?

I think so, I gave up taking a hose there years ago! I wonder which bright spark came up with that brilliant idea! They are completely useless.

Very interested in that auxiliary engine mount - what stops the little mercury from shaking itself loose and what speed can she reasonably make under 'aux' power?

On a fairly flat sea she will make a good 6knots and 4knots in 'heavy' seas.

I have found that 4-strokes make much better aux's, I tried a few before I bought the merc 4 4-stoke. Didn't get any where near as good performance from 2-strokes. Shame about the extra weight though.

The engine is mounted directly to the transom. I have screwed one of those plates you find on SIB's to the transom. I havn't had any problems with it shaking itself loose. I just make sure that its tightened every now and again.

Pleased to see the term SIB being used!
