Oh my! I'm really sad for you.

What can one say after an event like this.

I hope something good comes out of this in the end.

Chris
Totaly agree with Chris, realy enjoyed following the re-build,and a real tragic way for it to end, BUT,you must not let it defeat you.
YOU ARE ONLY BEATEN....WHEN YOU GIVE IN.

Unfortunatly it was not insured as my insurance company wanted a surveyors valuation of her due to the large difference in the price I paid and my estimated value. She had been due to have been sea trialed last wednesday and insured last thursday but due to a delay in delivery of some final essential parts that had been delayed until next week.
Not sure when I will get another rib as every penny of my savings had gone into this one.
Two of my commercial narrowboats were also damaged but the insurance will cover all but the £1k excess of that.
A local dive clubs rib parked near the shed was damaged by the heat and is probably a right off as the tubes melted and the grp on the bow is badly damaged.

Sorry to hear what has happened to you,i had enjoyed reading you build thread.
What is in the heads of people who would do something like this?
Lets hope whoever is responsible has a pile of misery heaped upon them.

Sorry to see the mess. Question I would be asking now is who and why? Surely its not mindless vandalism.

Richard,so sorry to hear about your fantastic rib.The time, sweat and effort that you have put into the project was totally amazing.I wish I had the DIY knowledge to do a project like that.I have enjoyed watching the step by step photos and write-ups and as with all the other rib net members totally gutted to see the end result of all your hard labour..I hope If you decide on another project you have more luck on your side and lets hope they catch the bastards who did this and give them what they deserve....

I am absolutely gobsmacked by this horrendous event. Although I consider myself to be relatively competent and experienced at RIB fit-outs I have viewed your progress with huge admiration, your skills have been very clearly evident throughout and it has been abundantly clear that you would accept only one, the very best, standard of work. Your completed boat was a total credit to your professionalism and skills. How such a beautiful craft can end up as ash (after a possible criminal event) is more than heartbreaking, it would appear to indicate a very sad facet of to-day's culture. Lets hope that justice will prevail.

Have a skip comming in next week so can start cleaning up.
I have seen a rib I like the look of not such a project as the Osprey but has potential, so to try and get some money together to try and buy it I have a few bits and pieces that I wont be needing now so over the next few days will be putting them on here first incase anyone wants them and if not on fleabay.

Richard, if that one doesn't work out, Olly has found an Avon searider 5.4m rib under a tree and rather overgrown by brambles. Has an engine and since it isn't on the ground must be assumed to be sitting on a trailer although visual confirmation is difficult. It sort of had your name on it
