5 engines!

Wow! 4 Johnson 275's and a v6 Yam 200 just, well just!

I guess they needed a Yam as it'll be the only reliable one out of the lot!

Thats a total of 1300 HP. If you discount Charles i don't think the sum total of HP at our meet in May will equal that, but wait, there is more.......

Truly unbeleivable!

Count them - there are EIGHT v8 (i've never even seen another v8 outboard) Envirudes on this boat. I'm lead to beleive this engine was a 2.5li v8, that totals 20li of engine.

Given that i can burn 60li / hr with my 1.8li v4 that equals over 650 li of fuel an hour - thats 10 li a minute. (OK so i'm guessing here, but it's an educated guess).

It may be Gib. When I was there last I saw photos on the wall of the local dive shop of a RIB with the same engine setup!!! The RIB was used twice on a drugs run from Morocco and it paid for itself on the first run, and was impounded by local authorities on the second run!!!

One hell of a RIB!

How do you balance the throttles with only two hands?

I am trying to calculate the speed and my head is surting. so how fast is that likely to go.

It makes sticking another opti150 on the my little Scorpion seem quite a reasonable proposition

Don't think the engines are for speed more for when you loose a couple after the Gib police or RN start shooting a couple of engines off the back of your boat. Smuggling people was the thing to do a while back in Hong Kong. The smugglers started to put armour in the cockpit to stop incoming rounds from the Royal Hong Kong Police. The smugglers knew it was going to be a 20 stretch if they stopped so they didn't. The Police knew they wouldn't stop so took to using machine guns. Lives were cheap to the triads.

Yes, that apparently happens and the smugglers throw their stuff overboard before they get boarded. This I can confirm as you can often find odd looking packages on the seabed close in the the harbour walls etc.....

Gib is a great place for loads of reasons, how about a cruise!

Think you'll find that RIBS are banned in Gib without special permit 'cos of all the people/drug/fag smuggling that goes on. Believe the RIB racers at GIB each year have to get special permits. Ditto Alan P when Spirit of Cardiff went there.
