Great photos Richard.

How different are those conditions from the weekend.

Always wanted to go out to Old Harry and Lulworth Cove.

How long did it take you?

Hi Phil,

It took us about an hour to get from Calshot to Poole Harbour entrance (with me driving!!), maintaining 37 knots (being careful about petrol consumption, lots of pot markers and what looked like some kind of exercise with boats, a helicopter and some marker flags).

We met friends in Poole then went out to Old Harry. This part of the journey we did very slowly (12 - 15 knots most of the way) so we could get right in to the shore and have a look at the rock formations (my friend is a Geography teacher!).

We spent about 3 hours in total, cruising from Dolphin Marina (Poole) around the eastern side of Brownsea Island, along Studland Bay to Old Harry, further west just into the far eastern end of Swanage Bay, then back along the coast, into Poole Harbour going round the western side of Brownsea Island and back to Dolphin Marina.

Funny you should say that... He started today. Things were getting very serious - yesterday, as I opened up the throttle (beautiful calm sea) he told me to keep it down to 37 knots - worried about fuel consumption! Hmmm. whenever I ask HIM to slow down he tells me he has to keep up the speed to keep it comfortable! So there's one rule for him and one for me

.

P.S. When are you coming out with us next???

In Mr B's defence.... (kind of)

1) 37kts probably a good cruising speed in calmish conditions giving reasonable consumption vs speed. 45kts & WOT is V thirsty even with a HPDI! When he gets the floscan working you can play around with RPM vs Speed vs Litres per hour. Can be quite interesting as 20kts is usually higher consumption per mile than faster speed.

2) Scorp's do go better at 35kts than 25 generally!

3) He is the captain!

Do you know the price of diesel has gone up to 33p per litre at my local canal shop. Terrible!

Good bit of coast that and the bit around to Lulworth, when they aren't firing at you from the ranges!

Mike I think in Cowes it is a bit cheaper still. Anyway diesel is the way to go.

By the way Wiesia and I have never seen Old Harry so a cruise is on the make. How about it?

Sounds good, Andre. It's one of those sights that, in the past, we have just whizzed by further off shore so it was good to get a closer look.

Regarding a cruise, Poole is easy for mooring and finding lunch - plenty of pubs and cafes a minute's walk from Dolphin Marina. Richard's going to have to work some weekends, unfortunately, but if we can make it, we'll be there.

P.S. Richard still hasn't found the receipt yet!!! Hope Wiesia and you are now fully mended!!

No we did not cos we were way out from the shore and who was sightseeing anyway in that weather

and coming back we just head straight for the Needles

so this will have to be a special cruise "sightseeing" with a picnic basket and a nice bottle of Chillian red

Suits me.... Maybe we could do a midweek trip. I know Wiesia is having trouble with August but they stop shooting that month so if she can get a day it would be a good time for and in-shore trip to Weymouth via Lulworth Cove etc.

I'll be up for a trip that way of its going to happen. Never been past Yarmouth before.

we are up for a mid week cruise just put some dates down, hopefully the weather will change to better
