Steve, where abouts in Bembridge were you moored when aground. If you go up to Bembridge Haven Sailing Club (by the old marina) you will be afloat all the time. (As an added incentive they also do excellent lunches )

Don't think I'm upto the poker run just yet still lots to learn.

She is a v6

I'm moored for the week outside Bembridge Outboards and we have between 5 - 6 hours tide so plenty just at odd times. Also thats private moorings now and £1500 for the year no short term stay any more.

Sorry Steve, I thought you were just there for a day's visit not for longer. I know about th old marina but I was thinking of the BHSC's pontoon for a lunch time stop. Very friendly lot (no charge and good food as well)

Tim,

Had to use the ferry glide in anger yesterday to get the boat onto the pontoon with a crowd of onlookers.....went without a hitch, nice one!
Still not too happy with anything over about 28 Kn - the confidence will come. thanks again for the top class training, catch up with you soon.

will post more pics of Steve's (sapphire tbc) and mine (bleu et blanc) when I figure out how to upload!!!

Nick

What's a Ferry Glide if you don't mind me asking?

Ferry Glide

Hightower,

Now there's doing it and defining it!

I suppose the definition would be 'using the tide and wind to assist with slow speed handling' get the bow into the wind or tide (whichever is the strongest force) and allow it to push the bow sideways whilst using the forward (or reverse if astern) gear in tickover to gently glide into position for docking on berth........????

Ask Tim, he will be able to explain, or alternatively, read Peter White's book 'Powerboating - RIB and Sportsboat handling'

Out today.......Steve Care is sucking the fuel out of his inboard tank like there's no tommorrow.......Full throttle!!!!

Nick

Steve,
Great to meet you at last, I can honestly say that Iv'e had one of the best weekends that I can remember; taking the new boat out and getting Anna & the boys involved has really opened up new avenues....cliche sorry!. The memory of our twin ( even though yours is longer and bigger....phnarrr!) boats lined up together on the pontoon at Bembridge will last, as will the endless amount of people you seemed to have willing to go aboard, with you being a full throttle merchant!.......I am p***ed off that Tesco won't fill more than 5 ltr tanks.... I will disguise it in the back of the car.

Catch up with you soon I hope, I'm a bit of an unsociable B*****d normally, so maybe Ribnet and having a Rib will change this.

I reckon you had at least 50 different people on board this weekend...Mr Popular, nice to meet Jan and the Kids.

Full Throttle Mr Care.......Take Care!

Nick
