Bollocks I thought you had to stay above that, I'm nearly down to the correct engine, had a 60hp and now I've got a 55hp!

If you stretch the SR to 4.4 you'll be on the money.

I have been looking at a few 40hp outboards. Will it feel underpowered with this?

I was aware 50hp was the max but guessed it should be fine on 40hp.

Nah, it'll still be mad with 40hp as long as you're not going to carry loads of passengers.

I've got a 40 and I get 30 knots on a good day without trimming the engine.

It will plane with 25HP but be a bit sluggish with any sort of load. Depending what you do with it that would be fine. 40 HP should be fine, and 50 HP will be "exciting"... anything bigger is probably scary.

When I was looking for an engine I was told 40hp would push it along but I'd soon get bored and wish I'd got a 50hp.

Thanks guys.

I am getting excited now as all I need to do is sort an engine. Got wind of a 25hp for sale near by but decided that was a bit small. Want to be able to carry three people max and it is for general playing and support vessel to some Deep Water Soloing.

i had a 25hp on mine was ok got on the plane fine but felt like if i had a few people on it it wouldnt be any good, got a 40 now and feels rapid compared to the 25hp and 5 up still planed ok just needed people to move forward to help it plane, i have got a blocked up hull tho so this may have helped the 25hp engine
