My New RIB - A BRIG F400S

Hi,
Managed to get a few snaps of my new RIB today

It's a BRIG F400S with an Evinrude E-Tec 40 on the back.

You can see from the closeups the PVC shim that I manufactured to cover the huge hole left by the factory fitted recessed compass so that I could mount my chartplotter. As the console is quite small, rather than bolt my VHF to the side (which due to the space taken up by the helm/guages was my only other choice) I've gone for a Standard Horizon VHF mounted inside the console with a remote command mic unit located on the side of the console.

Nice outfit but isn't that plotter going to block your view a bit - unless you are planning on using a camera forward???

Fjarvis,

I would be interested to know how many miles to the litre you get on average with that setup.

It looks a nice setup. Now get out and take some pics of the Clyde.

Only if I'm crouched down! Didn't really have anywhere else to put it...

Did a 12 mile run kast week, then went from South Queensferry to Portobello at the weekend to pick a mate up (from the beach!!) which was 15 miles each way and I've still got some fuel left in my 22lt tank.... Once I manage to get my fuel sensor hooked up to my Lowrance plotter I'll be able to get realtime fuel consumption, just waiting on BlueV getting me an NMEA2K extension lead....

Mo piccies of the Clyde, but here's one from the weekend on the Forth.

I lived in edinburgh in the early 90's. I had a Bombard SIB with 6 HP outboard that I used to buzz the bridges and local islands with.

Actually I only used it a couple of time because the weather was so bad, it was always cold even in summer and then my kids came along. So I decided to take a break. I wouldn't mind bombing around now on my Searider in North and South Queensferry and those old islands.

I do once remember thinking that I had seen a diver all on his own in the Forth so I went over to investigate. only to realise it was a seal. That was cool. I also remember landing on one of the old Fort islands, going for an explore then coming back to the boat and finding that the tide had disapeared. Then I was glad it was only a small SIB.

PS.

Looking at the pics of the bridge that must have been taken from the village of South Queensferry where did all that white looking brickwork or what ever it is come from.

that nice big red bridge is and has been coverd in white shrink wrap, and has been for years there is also more scaffolding that you could imagine hung from it… still looks good from a distance mind

At least they're now servicing it rather than letting it corrode away as they did for a while in the past.

Nice set-up. What's the maximum HP rated for the Brig 400? Also - have you considered fitting an auxilliary, or do you have total confidence in your new E-Tec?

Maximum is 50HP...

I'm curious about the speed of this setup, I think somewhere around 35 mph.

Just bought this boat from the guy you sold it too - really nice set up.

I would be interested to know if you had the original dials disconnected when you fitted the plotter - none of them work now ( speedo, rev counter & trim )
