My first rib project!

At the age of 26 I figured it was time to get my own!
I didn't have a massive budget so this is what I ended up with!
As for modifications, all I have really done is trim the console right back, add nav lights and remove FISTFULLS of wiring from the console / under the deck!!

I think in the future I would like to add a small bench seat to the rear for taking the family out and almost certainly a screen to the front! Although I am sure I will come up with plenty more ideas!!

The funniest thing is that its only a year younger than me!

That boat was advertised down our way for a while. The Truro area if I remember correctly, the 'hammerhead' console is very distinctive.

The motor is amazing, we're the same age and it runs better than I do

The noise is incredible!!

I am undecided about the fuel tank, I would rather have it under the deck but I am not sure if there is still one under there or not!!

I did buy it from Truro indeed, the console was a little too 'distinctive' for me! It made it very hard to use the throttle and get access to the bow which is why I trimmed it back!

Might be worth asking on iboats.com-I think you can uprate the HP on that motor quite significantly with very little expense from a breaker.

Hmmm I had never thought of doing that... any idea who / where / what they do etc???

Not sure it'd help the fuel expense though

Hop over to the iboats.com forums and ask in their Mercury/Mariner repair section. The guru over there is a guy who goes under the ID of Clams Canino. He's probably forgotten more about those motors than most owners ever learn.

As far as I'm aware, there's very little difference between the 90hp 6 cylinder and the 150hp and the fuel usage at speeds you can currently reach may even improve as you'll have to put a higher pitch prop on so will be doing less RPM for a given speed.

lol - NOS, you're showing your age. At 26, one goes as fast as one can.... which begs the next question - just how fast will that be? 150hp on a 5.3 Attaque. Sporty!

I cruise at the fastest pace I can physically stay in the boat...and I've got footstraps

On a 5.3, it'll be completely uncontrollable and unusable at more than the speeds you reach now except in absolute flat calm.It won't be a full 150hp btw, it'd be a crank rated 150 which is prob equivalent to about 130-135hp at the prop.

How very dare you sir!! hahah actually I'm not your usual speed demon, its a dive rib more than anything so speed isn't an issue for me, however a tuned engine is never going to hurt resale value for when I want, sorry NEED to upgrade!!!

Not sure! I mostly got it with poor fibreglassing, poor sanding and some standard marine paint!!! Unfortunately time is not a luxury that I have!!

Somebody used to make a small (5 gal?) polyethylene tank designed to fit an inflatable's bow area. Can't seem to find it now.

Similar to this one, but SIB-sized.
