Mull in a Day ..a Fast boat's way

Some of you who have followed a few Gurnard adventure’s will know this is not a normal one for me.

The reason is because it is not my adventure.

This is the adventure of the guys and gals of RIBs ... HAWK .. MISS ISLE.. MR JINGLES and BOUNCER ..who are on holiday in the Oban area.

Here is their story .. as seen through my camera and words. I hope it reflects the mood of the day and I hope everyone enjoys watching it. I had a fantastic day with these folks.

The day started near Oban ..at a well known Dive Centre .. the plan was to go round the Island of Mull.

I was not going by any old boat ..

I was going by fast boat .. a guest on RIB Hawk

In fact.. it is the fastest boat I have been on .. to say it was thrilling is an understatement.

The other RIB’s moved fast too..and as it wasn’t a race..I don’t know who the fastest was.

The weather was simply perfect and the scenery stunning.

Its not just any old cave with echoes that inspired a world famous composer like Mendelssohn to write “The Hebrides” overture. Staffa is a remarkable island off Mull to visit for any form of inspiration.

Enough of my wittering words .. so watch the GoPro movie to see if you get any inspiration from the area.

If you can..try to watch it in HD to get the closest experience of being with the folks who’s adventure it really is.

My thanks go to everyone on this adventure. I have memories of the day that I will never forget and consider it one of my best days at sea. .. because I realise .. its the friendly .. like minded people we share adventures with .. that make the best days.

The West Coast NEVER fails! 10 Fantastic days!..with some wonderful sights seen and memories made..AGAIN!
I agree ....
Its the people you share it with that make it so special..So a big thanks to "The usual Crew" (you know who you are!)
Special thanks to The Gurnard and Douglas for their great company!...and wealth of local knowledge...and to Neil and Amanda for letting us travel aboard "Miss Isle" who really lived up to her name

Thanks everyone for all the kind words and comments on the video. Im still learning how to be a successful Steven Spielberg ..but really enjoying that learning curve. Im glad the video caught the feeling of being there. I know that during the cold months of winter.. I will warm myself by watching this year’s video boating memories...and this one will be a firm favourite of mine.

It was great to be able to concentrate on the Gopro as a passanger. Normally Im steering with a foot on the tiller..holding a hat on my head with one hand..and a camera with the other hand.

Im loving the Gopro too as I don’t need to worry about it getting wet ..its virtually bomb proof..but as I nearly found it..I can still loose it if I don’t remember where I put it.

Yup..I forgot to credit Runrig for the music which is “Flower of the West” ..and its one of the best .

Thanks again to everyone on the adventure. If any of you find yourself up this way without a boat.. give me a yell.. I will be delighted to give you a wee adventure in The Gurnard...she is a lot slower .. and wetter ..but she gets there too.

I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife;
And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.

Best Regards
The Gurnard

Good video . I really need to get to grips with the GoPro cameras we have in family . I rely on you guys to post all the pics/videos! Sorry I missed the Wed jaunt round Mull , but had to stay closer to Oban and recover Sula and get Home for work Thurs /Friday. Look forward to the footage of Gigha and Loch Leven days earlier in the week . Good to meet you briefly Donny for the first time .
