Meandering up the Hamble in a RIB

View of The Jolly Sailor

This pub has cost me a fortune over the years as it is the only way I can get the wife out on the boat....

The promise of a pub lunch

A very lovely yaght 'Wanderin Star'

notice SIB tied to the back, with it's little four stroke, have had the pleasure of trying to navigate this across the Medina four up in the dark at midnight

somewhat worse for wear after a night out at The Folly, would recommend to anyone to give that pub a visit of an evening, amazing atmosphere

Arimar Rib

from what I gather Keith they are manufactured in Italy

www.arimar.com

they have evolved from being a Liferaft / lifejacket manufacturer to Ribs and tenders

Not seen any others in the UK although I know there is a UK importer / agent somewhere

Gets me down the Hamble in comfort !

Nice one.

I've got the theme tune to "Howard's Way" going round in my head!

was thinking of towing boat to Brittany in summer, but when I found out price of ferry I quickly gave up, they wanted 800+ pounds !!!

So just booked flights to south of france for 4 people in august for 283 quid, loads better value and some sunshine

sounds like from previous posts you know the Hamble then, you dont get such quaint riverside pubs in greece !!!

Yes I use to moor my boats in the Hamble Marina. I personally think that the UK (when the climate is nice - and does not mean warm but just nice) is a lovely country to go about and look at places and the senery.
It is expenssive to go on a Ferry the similar (a bit cheaper) prices apply if you go to France via the Eurotunnel.
A return trip to Greece with a 7 mtr trailer and two people cost me last year about £1,500.00 return this price includs Eurotunnel, tolls, hotels (2 stays in France), petrol and Ferry from Anchona to Patras.
However, I think it worths the effort.
Just picture this:
The island is Kithnos
the place (a little cove) called Apokrousis (or Apokrisis),
One taverna the owners (a young couple) can cook ONLY goat with chips, goat with salad, goat with spagetti, goat with anything (but just goat) and this is excuisite dish served with fried aubergines, or courgiets and is wash down with their home-made from their own vinery wine with no preservatives or additives in it (VERY STRONG STAFF).
The beach all white sand and shalow (about 200-300 meters long) the boat 'No Limit Too' RI.
People on the beach: four (04) my wife, two children and my self, Temperature 27-30 deg C.
Water Temp 20-23 deg C.
Can you change that for anything else??
I think that I'm VERY spoiled!! LOLOL
Any way I think we are and libe in the UK so we have to put up with it and make the most of it!!
So the Hamble is VERY NICE as well as Whitesand Bay in Cornwall etc etc!!
