"Master and Commander"

Just read that the San Diego Maritime museum has aquired the ship the used in the film "master and Commander". Should be an interesting addition for any of you Naval enthusiasts out there! Will get some photos when they get it here.

Maritime Museum Buys "Master and Commander" Frigate

(San Diego, CA) -- San Diego's North Embarcadero will now be the permanent home of the ship used in the movie "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.'' San Diego Maritime Museum executive director Ray Ashley says the exact terms of the purchase of the replica of an 18th Century Royal Navy frigate from 20th Century Fox studios are confidential. However, Ashley does confide that the museum agreed to make the ship available to Fox for future film productions.<

They seem to be adding a lot of new attractions with the Midway aircraft carrier being the last so this new addition will really make an impressive display.
The photo below is from the other week when we went cruising the bay and shows the museum ships.
cheers Dal

A bit of trivia - I doubled for Billy Boyd who is in "Master and Commander" in the film after that - the as yet unreleased "On a Clear Day", Kitten and I worked on that one up in the Isle of Man. He was also in Lord of the Rings as a hobbit - so my claim to fame is I doubled for a Hobbit!
