Lowestoft boat show

I went to the first anual Lowestoft boat show this afternoon. I was a little disapointed at the first; having paid £5 to get in, I expect more boat, and fewer burger vans! There weren't many people either, given the weather this wasn't suppprising.
Having looked at the twenty or so non-food related stands on the shore, I went down to the pontoons. Here about 20 various boats including RIBs and hovercraft were on display.
The highlight of the afternoon was a trip on the "Sothwold Voguer" - a 9.5m RIB with 2 225hp Mercury Optimax's on the back. It seats 12 in bucket seats, and for £15 will take you for a 30 minute "sea blast". This is really worth the money, and is piloted (i think) by the crew of the Southwold lifeboat.

Then, they sent 12 people out in a SIB, threw them in, and got one of the dogs to pull everybody back in. That's 12 people, and a boat, all at once!!!

We also saw some of the huge sails being made for the new wind-farm at Scroby sands off Great Yarmouth.

Fantastic, those dogs are awesome - if they retrieve shot ducks as well as they do humans I'll be trading in my labrador tomorrow
