It's the 146bhp 2.0ltr diesel version. On slow trip to the office I can get 62mpg average on A roads!!

Incredible really these days. I've a 184bhp BMW 3series touring. Average 54mpg in all driving including town or a constant 61mpg at 85mph!!!!

Oops thread drift! Anyone for any rigs?!

Great strides have been made in fuel efficiency in the last 10 years and BMW are probably the greatest exponents.

Don't be fooled into believing that trip computer readouts of any manufacturer are accurate, though. From experience, they're anywhere between 10 and 15% optimistic. Fuel management systems in vehicles are based on achieving a chemical balance in the combustion chamber and controlling that by measuring constituents of exhaust gases. There's no direct measurement of fuel flow in an mpg sense so any mpg measurements are simply a mathematical approximation. And nobody wants their approximations to be pessimistic

Anyway, back to show us your rig

Pacific 22. Ford sabre 250 BHP and Hamilton 273 jet drive behind my 60th Anniversary Jeep Cherokee 2.5 Turbo diesel. Probably on the edge of what the Cherokee is comfortable towing and stopping.

well observed

No police helicopter at all needed to take these shots, just a gopro on a painters pole, if you look you can actually see me holding it. From there its nothing but a quick photoshop job on the pole and you wouldnt know the difference.
And yes this is Jono Gartons boat (Orca) which I purchased last year, its been great and I am gutted the cold weather is back. lots of little adventures on it this year (one trip to France at Easter) but nothing as epic as the Alderney run and rescue from last August

Just One More

This was taken last summer in the Lake District, I towed Orca from London up there as I was granted special permission to power boat on Buttermere - such a difference running 30 knots on what was a glass surface, of course the views are also something special

Not a new boat but a new tow vehicle pulls it great and no problem on steep slippery slips so far!

Cheers Tony T, your right when I first bought Impulse I went through the whole debate about towing 'V' Dry stack. Although living in the Midlands is a pain if you want a quick blast on the boat the positive is I/us Midlanders are in fairly easy reach of many different coastlines.

I am certainly interested in trying the Welsh Riviera, just wondered if a bright yellow Dry suit would be an insult to you?
