That looks a little tame!

When Hamilton was developing his water jet in NZ back in the 50's they took it up some very scary rapids, but I can't find the film on the internet.

However I did find which is less tame.

Cheers Mark

Does anyone on this forum have a boat with a jet drive? Are they expensive to buy and operate? Also, are they any good for normal ribbing at sea?

Yes we have a 6m with a 120hp diesel and a jet drive - it uses hardly any fuel (it's the same 1.7 litre block as the Astravan). Great fun, safe, doesn't leap about losing drive like a jet ski, turns on the spot and is a great wakeboarding and skiing boat - It's also for sale on here! It's first outing was to Ribex in a force 6 - 7 in the Solent and it didn't miss a beat, didn't stuff and is a great rough water boat if you need it.
