Cable & Wireless Adventurer.

Went past it on Saturday, and it really does look in a sorry state.

just googled it, quite interesting and a real shame it is just sitting there now

http://www.solarnavigator.net/histor...d_wireless.htm

apparently so the story has it they could have done the trip in far less time but lots of time was spent entertaining the sponsors and seeking media attention that they planned it to beat the record but allowed a lot of time to get their moneys worth out of the event, not sure how true it is but not surprising in this day and age.....perhaps others will have more info..

doh! I went underneath that on a jetski a couple of weeks ago! Sad it does seem a bit of a waste. Anyone know who owns it?

No they were just the sponsors - a friend of mine was the skipper on her when they had some film work offshore for some of the big yachty races, the owners turned down some good offers for her as they thought they could get more for her - they were wrong and now hardly have the money to keep her afloat!

James Bond boat

The James Bond boat was a 'Seacat' I believe.....our kids find it hilarious to see the IoM ferry portrayed as a 'Stealth boat'

It's obviously dead money floating in the water, wonder why they don't just cut their losses and sell it off cheap. At least it would get some use then, tragic waste otherwise

Who would buy it? It such a specialised thing and probably in shakey shape by now. We used to have some wierd boats laid up in the Fal with interesting stories. The Caucescu's private yacht complete with bullet holes was one.

Just been watching Whale Wars, and this is the boat they're now using for the high speed pursuits. Looks better with the black paintwork and the upto date gadgets!

It wasn't that one it was a totally different boat and they managed to sink it - I think you're a little way behind real life!

If you're talking about the Ady Gil, that used to be Earthrace and yes it's now sunk:
