Irish days at Akranes 2008

First weekend of July every year Irish weekend is celebrated at town called Akranes which is located across the pond from Reykjavík. As Wilks (on here) and crew are here to explore Iceland (for third time) and are here in Reykjavík over the weekend we invited them across the pond, and what is more appropriate transport method than RIB, so I borrowed Sveinki´s (on here) Humber previously known as Lemon Zest owned by Cypman (on here) and together with us was Ingo on his Ribeye and Sigurjon on his jetski.
As we got back to Reykjavík we went to Þerney (one nearby islands) where Snarfari (boat club) has pontoon with BBQ and we had some grilled hot dogs after a great day out.

Thanks to all in Reykjavík!

After a few more boat trips and adventures, we are home! Many heartfelt thanks to Bogib and his friends in Iceland who made a great trip a special one for us. Only in Iceland have I experienced a welcome and hospitality like this. We look forward to being able to return the favour in the future. Thanks guys

Any Redbay Anoraks recognise the 11m, moored in her home berth?? Sorry, Virtual Prizes only...

Apologies to Bogib for hijacking his thread!

Sorry Andy - no virtual cigar. The boat was purchased new from Redbay by her current owners and is lying in a European Capital City. Not Reykjavík. C'mon c'mon! It's a dawdle...

Although I have never been there personally, I would say Torshavn capital of the Faroe Islands, my guess based on the red building which has turf on the roof for insulation which is still very common on the island.

Alas no, Bogib said they were saving it for Special Guests from England! So we had to content ourselves with a feast of hotdogs and later, a particularly good roast lamb lunch.

And so, as promised, no virtual cigar for Bogib for "guessing" Torshavn correctly. So I guess it can only be one 11m then....

Yes, they certainly do. Generally lifted to accommodate a 44" Tyre, but those monsters were bigger again. The bonnet/hood was level with my shoulder, and I'm not short! Here's one for Codprawn - we met the guy who lifts these, visited the workshop, very impressive!
