Interesting mod on P1 powerboat

Went out yesterday and took loads of pics of the racing. Great day, met up with nofear, had a chat with carl in his very very nice new boat, spoke to Ian M, spied adam younger, pressman and I think perhaps a few others.

Anyway, check out the pic below of Kerkoll, one of the fastest P1 boats. She has what seem to look like short tubes attached to the side of the hull. I can't really tell from the pic if thats what they are so I'm hoping to have a snoot around in the pits today and have a closer look. I'll post up some more pics when I have the chance. I've got over 350 to sort out from yesterday and will take more today!

Tim

Tim

We have just got back. Good few days It got quite interesting out there this afternoon as the tide changed. We did here a whisper yesterday evening through the San Miguel haze that the quickest P1 boat yesterday had a lap time averaging 90mph!

I looked at the boat and thought mmmm, I want one of those!

Looked similar to yours, was following a yellow rib with twin 225's I think

Yes it was we had Jan Falowski out with us doing a photo shoot for Sportsboat and Rib Magazine. Should be in November's edition. Bit choppy not as bad as yesterday though, Sunday we were still keeping up 30 knots with the sea that was running, and no sign of stuffing we were knackered but the boat just kept going, and that was with 1.3 tonnes of fuel and waterjets!!

Cracking piece of kit you have.

Sunday was rough - we got wet, but just from the splashing and wind... couldnt get the speed up to make it a better ride as I had a fellow ribster in the boat with me - but he has broken ribs - now thats committed!

Today was a bit choppy from on the way over to cowes, but after we'd spent a few hours in cowes and then up to the folly for lunch - it was a lot smoother coming back

They are small tubes and they arn't a mod - they are original equipment. It's a Fabio Buzzi hull and they are sold as military hulls, so the tube is a stabiliser and fender all in one - source of information Giovanni Carpitella - Throttle man!

The owner and driver of the red cat is Mike Spinks navigator is "AJ"
