was it dumping it at sea or transporting it . ??

I remember Greenpeace always used to protest about the radioactivity of the Irish Sea around Windscale. They said it was 100x background in some places. Sounds terrible until you realise the Dead Sea is 1000x more radioactive than background and people bathe in that as a health spa!!!

Not long ago the radiation monitors at Windscale were triggered - they eventually found it was coming from a luminous dial from the wreckage of a Lancaster bomber. the waste wouldn't set the alram off but the dial did - and people wear things like that on their wrist!!!
