Fishing Bass In The Raz De Sein

Hello,

Boats are not ribs, but it's not an easy job...

I fished in this area last summer, with one of my friends (solent 600 115 etec), and it was a great day, but the weather was much better...

wow I would have enjoyed kayaking there a few years ago but it looks scary on that fishing boat . He must know those overfalls really well , and his boat

Certainly doesn't look comfortable.

I'm glad they're using long lines and not using Gill nets.

Went through there a few years ago and it was very strange water. Ran alongside the rough water until I found a passage through and opened up the engine before the water changed.

Once through you could see the bass boats fishing away.

Nice looking bass as well in that video.

i have been out in a 5.3m RIB in conditions like that and it was great fun!!!

Were you in the UK in the 5.3?
The Raz would take some beating on springs with a nice 5m Atlantic swell!

Went through the Ortac channel (channel islands) last year on the mother ship (11m with rag and stick) and crapped myself, but nothing like as bad as the Raz on a good day!

This is it on a good day - it can be horrific!!!

There is also the Mixon near Swansea - very calm at most stages but as the low tide turns it's like something out of Hawaii Five-O..........

that shows the bitches in a very tame state .
I ran it one news years day in a huge swell . I remember a wave appearing from nowhere that was bigger than a house roaring towards us , we thought we were dead and then the wave peaked as if to break and just died away.

penryn mawr (however its spelt) on anglesea is the best set of standing waves I have seen you can surf it for ages

YOU THE MAN!!! I'm inspired to push the envelope a little more with my old SR4. My rough water experience is still very limited, I am amazed at the difference in the fear factor (for me) depending if I am running with the waves or angling into them.

Just for info, I have a friend who goes regularly spearfishing in the Raz de Sein (yes hes gets in the water, freedives and shots fish in those conditions) and he swears by British RIBs. He's the one who told me to stop looking at Zodiacs and the like and look at Humber, Tornado, XS, Osprey, etc...

If I wasn't at work I would post some films he's made.

He owns a 5.8m Tornado with a 150hp Etec on the back. 49.8 knots at WOT, ouch !

I'm afraid I can't post them. You can always look at Kornog personnal page on the pneuboat website or look un "MagicRock" on Youtube. You should be able to find an exemple.

I'm far too old and fat for that spearfishing lark, never mind doing it in the Raz. I scare myself in the bathtub sometimes!
