Firth of Clyde

I thought I'd put a few photos up of my recent trip to Inverkip in Scotland. My first visit there and it was superb.... Four of us went, Myself and my wife… and Andre and his wife. We stayed at the excellent Inverkip hotel which has a footbridge adjacent to it that takes you right to Kip Marina across the road!

These photos were all taken by Andre or his wife but I hope he won't mind me putting them on Ribnet...... Mine need to be 'developed'!

It really is an excellent cruising area if the weather is good... and it was for us. 10 hours tow from West London. Highly recommended… but watch out for moving poles in the water! Some came towards me 5 miles off Arran….. but they were on my starboard side so I gave way and let them pass!!!! Wise decision I think!

Pics look good, say hello to andre for me. Cala harbour just after the narrows at bute is a gr8 place for lunch. Glad you enjoyed the clyde. Shame i coodnt come down and say hi

Yes it was a superb week up in bonnie Scotland. You guys up there have fantastic ribbing conditions. I would even go further and say better then us down here.

Next RibNet conference in Scotland, just a thought but why not.

Craig I did send you an email that we were coming. Perhaps you did not receive it . What a pity!

We met up however with fellow ribnetter Calum MacKenzie and had a most enjoyable evening at the Inverkip Hotel

we were very lucky with the weather it was just great. We visited Brodick on the Isle of Arran, Tarbet, up Loch Fyne to Lachgilphead to see the Crinan Canal, round the Isle of Bute and of course the Firth of Clyde.

Next time we would like to go up the Crinan and send a few days in Oban

Our week also included a visit to the Auchentoshan distillery, a day on Loch Lomond and and not forgetting the Falkirk Wheel where we just made it for the last boat trip that day.

shocking prices however for petrol & diesel

Pics look good, the clyde and surrounding area has a good variety of locations and conditions, always makes our days out interesting.

Glad you enjoyed your time up here, maybe catch up with you next time, maybe even have my RIB in the water at the time!

We did not make a big thing about our plans cos we had two options.
Cornwall or Scotland and the weather was going to decide. Mike has a good sense when making the right choice. Perhaps we should have posted our plans the day we left and met up with you guys cos now see that there are a few of you up there

Next time for sure cos we plan to do the Crinan

Great piccies. Looks like you all had a good time. Good idea about a Scotland RIBnet 'conference'. Would love to see some of Scotland by RIB. Maybe next year...

Saw Prime Rib in the marina at kip and thought I reconised the name but the penny didnt drop

. For sure come back next year and we can organise something, up through the canal and back round the Mull? with visits to Gigha, Islay etc

We do have some of the best cruising grounds in the country....but dont tell everyone or it'll end up like the solent

Craig any plans yet for the Ardbeg trip?

we should have been flying the RibNet burgee.

we will for sure be coming up next year cos really it is not that far. Can be done in a day from where we are

It was a good idea to visit the Falkirk Wheel and we arrived just in time to catch that last boat trip that day.
