First Run

First run out this year to my favourite island - Islay.
Left Red Bay in thickish fog and arrived in Port Ellen in glorious sunshine and quite a bit warmer.
Must be the straightest road in Scotland (and no steep inclines).

Port Ellen to Bowmore - YouTube.

First time in Bowmore. Very very nice place. "THE BOSS" recomended the Lochside. So didn't have a choice. Very friendly staff and good chowder. Some nice ales and good choice of malts.
Harbour Inn looks nice but didn't have time to visit.
Further investigation required.

I swear to God, he's a walking version of the Good Pub Guide. Usually right too, he must do a LOT of research. Some of the background stories are hair raising!

Thanks Billy.
Still hope to get off soon to Tayvallich. There looks a nice B&B on the other side of the bay.

Nice one! Fantastic looking day. Was it that calm all day? It blew up choppy and rough in Dublin bay this afternoon - was not out looking at it longingly.

Thanks for that

Had to scrape the ice off the boat. Fog on the way out. Wind with neap ebb tide, so calm sea all the way over. Fog cleared past Rathlin and blue sunshine the rest of the day. Quite a bit milder on the island.
Good bit rougher on return. Short 'snattery' waves. (New B/F scale 4-5).
Misty and cold back in Red Bay.
Sun must always shine on Islay
