Easter in Oban/Mull

I thought it was time to have a go at posting some piccies of my own after months of looking at eveyone else having fun. The weather was kinder that the Met Office thought and we had a great weekend around Oban. Managed to make it up the Sound of Mull from Kerrera to enjoy the warmth and hospitatlity of the Mishnish !

Anyone who knows the Mish will understand that even a hazy memeory is quite an achievement after a few hours around the fire and bar.
Just to show that the weather in Scotland is "always" wonderful !!!!!!!! heres another one from last August on the Clyde .......... and yes I was unusually totally out of order in not wearing a lifejacket after removing my drysuit - the boss on the Shackletons commode did remind me !!

Lovely Rib, by the way, what do you get WOT?

Also what does the name mean, out of curiousity?

I manage 43mph lightly loaded and 38/39 with 4 and 4 sets of dive kit. She is quite heavy at 1050kg rigged and full tanks. Cruises nicley at 36 - I have a 13,25x17" S/S prop which gets her to 5200 loaded - with one up I hit the rev limiter but this was a much better balance than the 19" laser II I had originally.
HPEMA NEPA - loosely means "calm waters" in greek - but I am sure Manos may know differently ?

I am on an 18" Powertech HL from the original 20" laser II - strange how the memory fades with old age

Thanks for the photos Jeff, great boat, great location. It sure as hell beats that muddy patch of overcrowded wetness known as 'The Solent'!

Thanks Michael - she would look much better crusing round the Greek Islands though !!

Jeff

I'm off to Paxos in June for a nice spot of sun and diving - will have to manage without my own "transport" though - hired bathtubs and a skippered RIB only I'm afraid !
