Sorry Dan will not be in my boat on June - but defo up for a pint or three in the evenings.
Hope to get boat around to Swilly before then for a bit of tope fishing. Must meet up with yourself and co-pilot  ... Very welcome aboard for a days fishing.

Lough Swilly Orca, Killer Whales on a summers eve
Now I was trying to convince Portnahaven to come by sea....
I had a pod of killer whales all organized, but no convincing him would make him come by sea !
So for anyone who is interested in some cool photos of Orca off the Donegal Coast and Lough Swilly....

Seen that, some kind of special sick to do that.
Incidentally, The pod of whales are already identified.
They are regularly spotted on the West of Scotland, and the last photographic evidence of them in Ireland was in 2005....
Donegal wildlife ranger Emmett Johnston captured these amazing images when, as part of the Inishowen-based basking shark research team, he caught up with the long-awaited family at the mouth of Lough Swilly yesterday evening.
He said: “I’ve been waiting for this for at least 7 years, ever since I saw the blurred photos of the Orca pod in Kinnego bay taken by the Lough’s Agency in 2005. Its hard to believe we recorded this on our own door step, just 30mins from Buncrana.” According to the basking shark team, who also monitor dolphin and whale activity in Inishowen waters, this pod of Killer Whales or Orcas are well known on the west coast of Scotland with irregular sightings on the Irish coast.
So god know when we will see them again, but one lives in hope !

They cruise around the scottish west coast, and no real proof of ever visiting Ireland prior to this. So for Ireland, its a big deal !
The people in the Irish Whale and dolphin group are going nucking futs :-)

He was up here with the basking shark project last year,
They did get some footage of baskings, but they had a weeks holidays built into the schedule and in that time, the basking shark men tagged approx. 150 sharks !!!
They got some good footage, but the following week was awesome !
Tough trying to capture nature and take some scheduled holidays, kinda like oil and water.
But we would be more than happy to entertain him again this year if he was about !

Great photos Dan. Sorry i missed them as we all returned on Monday. I see the whales made our local news tonight.
Weather for the tope festival on saturday was rough F5 gusting 6 easterly. (only two caught over the two days)
Noticed the boats taking a right buffeting at Rathmullan pier.
