Nice, brings back memories. The last time we were there, the pontoon wasn't. There was a grumpy old terwat that used to look after the sailing club & hated divers with a vengeance. He used to run about in a mini-moke type thing. We had many a run in with him.

Yep , we often end up at Dale when it's just too lumpy to get out to the Islands or Smalls ! These pictures say it alll . My grand daughter loves the rib and is very game for a few lumps & bumps , but last year it was even " too exciting " for her to try and get to see the gannets . Theres nothing like a bit of lunch to restore the smile to a previously wistful little face.........

Ha! HA! Sounds like grumpy old JP he used to speak like a sergent major and used to run a little fishing boat aswell, there's a few pontoons around the Harbour now, I think they been doing it about 15yr now.

Sounds about right, we had a 6.4m Osprey at the time on a 4 wheel trailer, it wouldn't go round the bend by the pub in the little one way system they had. So we used to wait until it was quiet & turn right at the top of the slip & nip the 50 or so yards down the road the wrong way. One day he pitches up as we are just pulling off the slip, I've got my right indicator on & he parks in the middle of the road on my right, blocking my way. I can't go left as I'd get stuck, I try to explain to him, but he ain't having it, there's no way is he going to let me turn right. So I parked the boat on the slip & went into the café at the top whilst he blocks the road. The traffic starts to pile up behind him & eventually he has to move, as soon as the backlog went, I nipped out & bingo, he weren't 'appy.

wake up @Richmond house cross the road to the cafe for breakfast, walk next door to start work.

Lunch in the Griffin, back to work on the beach, dinner in the griffin (and a beer or two) go to bed next door @Richmond house.

Yes that would be a tight squeeze past the pub with a rib that size, it's always been common practise though for larger tows to turn right at top of slip, you must have caught him on a particularly grumpy day, which was most days.

would still be there, not many jobs in the area.

Yes indeed, The Lobster pot in the next village used to be good too, with brummy Tony at the helm, but its gone well down hill now with the new owners, however Tony now runs the beach restaurant in Dale which is highly recommended.

staggered home many a night from there. Safest on the roads, cutting across the airfield at night p1$$3d is really iffy with all the pot holes

The air field ha!ha! that was fun trying to cross with five extras hanging on to a 125, the farmer must have thought there was a circus act passing some/most summer evenings.

I can relate to the traffic issues in Dale!

Having the power of arrest was always handy when We wanted to turn right of the Dale slip
