Crusader - Redbay 8.4 Expedition

Just taken delivery of our new rib. The wait has definatly been worth it.

powered by a single Yamaha 422 (250hp).

4 pilot type seats inside with an extra 4 on back benches. Small cabin in the bow with berths for 2 , with a thetford porta potty underneath (emergencies only) Nice touch is removable table with sits on top of the engine cover.

Raytheon E series radar plotter type thing with 3d mapping, Mp3 cd player and big speakers!!

I would have gone for wipers personally - as you don't have any try some Rain X - really does work very well - developed for aircraft canopies etc. You can get it in Halfords or similar.

Do NOT use it if you have wipers fitted - it causes them to judder like hell - tried it on a few cars now - great at 50mph with no wipers on but at 15mph when you need the wipers it causes probs.

I asked about self righting because the cabin is so large - many lifeboats don't use righting bags etc - they use large volume superstructure instead - only works if the doors are closed though!!!

As this is Scotland rain is not a problem. We enquired about wipers but after testing the demonstrator at redbay we found that they dont need them. why pay extra for something thats not necessary.
