Based on the quality and ride of the 6.0M, I am sure you would not be disapointed. Sorry I cant be of more help .... there must be someone on here that has been in a Cobra 8.5
Yes I have - they are lovely boats - well made - great resale but they aren't quite as good in the rough as some - having said that they will still cope with plenty of rough water.

Went to se a 7.5 yesterday not impressed in all over quality anchor locker was full of water & no drainage at all!
Surprised that it relied on bilge pump to ship any water from the deck!
Thought the wife would like it though, but she likes the scorpion

Agree with Codprawn here to some extent:
It all depends on what your using the boat for. If its family days out in the Solent, and general messing about and you need the space you could do alot worse than a Cobra 7.5.
They are obviously not as capable as a Scorp in terms of long distance cruising and rough weather handling but they are a fair bit cheaper and if you never intend on going offshore then a Cobra would make a good choice. 1000x better than a Ribeye, and with good quality and resdiduals.

Sounds abit out of character to me, what put you off?
I have spent alot of time helming and crewing a 2003 7.5/ 225 Honda and it has always impressed me, well finished and some good storage, lets not go into the drainage issue....
