I don't know who to be more in awe of - Keith for his amazing feat on the Pentland Firth (and his superb treatment of the arogant racing yachties) or Karen for the amazing pictures. I would have been walking on water by then to get away

Keith,

Is this creature TOOOOO old, or did it try to eat something HARD, cause I don't see any teeth left in that abyssal mouth.

Nice on Keith, must have been your bacon butties that attracted 'em. I bet you were huddled up in the corner in the cabin protecting them eh?

But seriously that must have been an amazing experience, which like you said, justifies the trip on it's own.

Hi folks

A quick update on the pictures. All your kind comments have been passed on to Karen.

I have forwarded the photos to the Marine Conservation Society for their Basking Shark database. Here is part of their reply...

"Many thanks for sending in your basking shark sighting details, which have been added to our database, and also for the excellent photos. It is only rarely that we receive such good pictures and it was a pleasure to see them."

Here is their web site:

Keith,

We have a saying in Greece that goes like this:
"Better if your eye pops out, than a nickname sticks on"
