So anyway, pictures...

If you're really lucky on a visit to Redbay, Tom (MD, Redbay Boats) may be busy on a sanding job. And anything is better than sanding... even showing time-wasters around the new projects

Some of you will have seen the 1050 Prototype at Sarf'ampton last season. I didn't. I was gobsmacked. Viewed from one end of the new 7,500sq.ft production room, it looks like a biggish four seater open rib, classy, but not startling. And then the Walk of Awe begins, she just keeps getting bigger! Standing by the trailer, my head doesn't top the tubes. Sitting on the tubes, my feet don't touch the deck, and there's lot of deck. Imagine an 11m stripped back to deck and widened some. You could get 2000 kees of dope on this baby and still have room for a few immigrants in the under deck storage wells.

Not that one would, no, she's designed for Patrol, Security and Adventure Trip work. And Taking Tom Round Ireland Very Quickly, I suspect.

And how quickly would that be?

Thanks to the twin suzi 300s, around 55 knots. The stern compartment has a view hatch to the isolators and fuel filters. The batterys are in a water tight compartment behind this, so short cable runs.

Scot Seats are trialling two suspension seat designs on her. I've no experience of suspension seats at sea, but they look and feel the part. Coming in about 900 squid cheaper than Ullman, it will be interesting to see how they are received by the market. The controls are "fly by wire".

However, I have one nagging worry about this rib. How am I going to blag a run in her?

I for one am glad there is something to draw scale from in the picture, otherwise it would look like a normal RIB with a small console and oddly proportioned small engines.
