Calm on saturday

It was amazingly calm on saturday. We (Me, Andy, Rich, Al and Kath) went from Portsmouth to Swanage for brunch, then back to Portsmouth going round St.Catherines point. No waves at all, just fog in the solent - a great day out!

This is Al driving...

We dropped our passengers off on the Pier, as there was NO divers at the pier at all. Then we anchored up and waded ashore in drysuits.

It was a fantastic day

I'm very envious as it will be another 4 weeks until I'm able to get my boat out again !

Excellent pics.

Looks like a top day out. I've never seen the Solent looking so calm.

That large black monster in the photo used to be over at Hasler Marina. I think it's an ex MOD prototype and has a couple of huge gas turbine engines fitted.

IIRC its called Blue or brave something or other. Ex fast patrol boat fitted out by MD of Vospers as private yacht. 2 x Diesels for manoeuvering out of harbour where you light up the 3 x gas turbines and Wahaaayy!!! Also rumoured to be used as start boat for Cowes Torquay Cowes race one year and ended up beating most of the fleet to Torquay!

I didnt take a photo of the exhausts - 3 big stainless outlets 2 feet across at least. Is a very nice bit of kit, although it looks a bit neglected at the moment. The fuel consumption probably isnt too great!!

Nice pics Ricky

Not fair though, when ever we go out all we get if rough seas and strong winds, but then it is grim up North

Also out on Saturday (no piccys - forgot camera ). Nipped out to the Nab - it was very tempting to keep going south but AY wanted to drive so we went back north

Lunched in Bembridge Haven club and also did the Pompy harbour tour. Followed by evolutions in Langstone Harbour for Scurvey Crew and Katherine.

The conditions made a great change from being bashed about - mind you with all those "darkside" hardboats tucked away nice and warm for the winter there was very little wash.
