No

Clue, it`s finish boats, i prefer the swedish boats, ha ha.
Scandinavian boats are often pretty expensive because our climate is very ruff and boats up here are often very very very over dimensioned wich costs.
Look at swedish boats like Storebro, Hallberg Rassy (sailing) Nimbus etc, great quality but expensive, and scandinavian people take care of their boats like their own child, you can find boats that is 10 years old and still look like brand new, but offcourse 2hand price are very high.

My opinion about "scientific hull" means just very vast and meticulous research Boomeranger made during mid-1990 when they developed the hull. Actually nearly all the research was done by Frontier Guard and ship & material laboratory of Technical Research Centre of Finland, Boomeranger just built the boats. To say that the hull is "the most scientifically developed" is a bit too much when I have no direct comparisons for example with US Navy RIB reseaches (I suppose major scale tests), but what I can say is that there are just few if any RIBs available that are equally meticulously designed like Boomeranger C-3500 what comes to technical matters. All this work to design the boat, tank tests, live tests with boats full of sensors, logging loads of data and analyse it in order to obtain the best results must have cost a small fortune, but Frontier Guard wanted a good boat and as far as I know, they got what they wanted.

I

don`t agree with you about that they are lonely about their development, there is a lot of manufacturers of rib`s that been doing the same research on the market as Boomeranger been doing.
I've seen Boomeranger and the quality is great, no doubt and i agree with you that the boat is a succes.
I have nothing bad to say about them.
proud finish boats, exactly like Swan, nice quality and good sailors.

Yes, many RIB builders have developed their boats and continue to do so. But my point was that only few manufacturers have capabilities to do so comprehensive evaluation that Frontier Guard did with C-3500 project. Development wasn't done by Boomeranger, it was the client who did the job with all possible resources, but Boomeranger got later on the results for their use. I doubt there are pretty few RIB builders around who can invest, say, 200-300 000 euros to a single RIB hull development. All the rest Boomerangers are, as far as I know, well designed like ordinary heavy duty commercial RIBs, but still just workboats among their product line. Efforts to create C-3500 were much more comprehensive than in ordinary RIB project, what is the difference I'd like to point out.

Thanks for your words about Finnish boatbuilding!

No probs

You have some nice boat manufacturers in Suomi. But i still dont think it`s very unusual to invest 200-300,000 €uros for commercial rib`s.
If you have a nice development of one single boat it`s very easy to continue working on the same hull but make it bigger, wider etc and suddenly you have 2 hulls for that cost.
I am not saying you are wrong but i find it hard to believe that they are the only one in the world.
Is there anybody els that has experience or know anything about this.
It`s interesting to know.

Hi Petrov

That 200 000 euros was only for R&D and just ball-park sum, not any specific information. But only to give scale for the project. Your opinion about conversion of one hull to many variants is true. I'm sure Halmatic and Zodiac Hurricane are also putting great efforts in developing heavy-duty RIBs for the military. Absolutely Boomeranger is not the only one who has done serious research with RIBs.

Anyway, are you going to bring your 2x300 HPDI RIB to Allt för Sjön? I'm coming to show, I'd like to see your boat. Finnish Lifeboat Society brings two 5,95 metre Boomerangers to Helsinki Boat Show on February. Also other very interesting RIBs of which I cannot tell more are unveiled there too, so at least for Finnish RIB enthusiast a show is important to visit.
