They do 40 knots easily. When we saw him (asssuming he's the same one!) down near Hurst Castle, he was following in between us and three jet skis at 40-43 kts.

When we slowed down codders, s/he would slap the side of the hull with his/her body.. At one point, s/he had their nose tucked right into the back of the tube by the transom as we we doing about 15k's.. There were other boats motoring about at the same time.. I reckon if we had slowed down, s/he might have gone to play with someone else..

Here we go, I've thrown a few vids in together of various outings in 2005, not just on my boat, but on others too when I've either been coxing or videoing.

http://files.ribseadrive.co.uk/2005_videos_small.wmv - for the small video (this should stream for 512k users)
and
http://files.ribseadrive.co.uk/2005_videos_large.wmv - for the large video encoded at 1mbps.

It's 9mins long

Thought as much - they seem to love speed - people say about the dangers to them etc but I reckon as long as you don't make any sudden unexpected moves they will be fine - seem to know EXACTLY what they are doing!!!

Dolphins in surf.

My highlight of 2005 has to be a day in April off Machrahanish beach (Mull of kintyre).

Had dolphins (or porpoises?) jumping out of the face of waves. Seemed to be enjoying the surf even more than we were!

Got a photo on my old canon 35mm waterproof camera - only to find it trashed by the time I got ashore. Smoldering lithium battery and wet film. Am blaming the dolphins! Can anyone develop salty film?

This has to be mine :)

Was on the way back from little hampton... was definately an exciting first long distance trip for me!

I hope there are many more this year - a new year and a new start for me - finally work has calmed down a bit

I think it might still be possible to get an image out of the film. Ideally you would have rinsed the film in fresh water as soon as possible, (without exposing to light!) and stored it in clean fresh water before taking to a proper developer (not someone who just sends it away!).

For all it would cost to try getting the film developed it would be worth trying if you have special pictures on there. Expalin to the developer what happened and you probably have more chance of success. It is now likely to have damage from drying stains, salt crystals and potentially scrathches (from winding/unwinding across salt crystals etc).
