Ballachulish - The Return

Lovely day out, if somewhat tiring - especially shifting Tony's big RHIBs about before departure...

Anyway, if I've done this right, you should get:
1) Setting off down Loch Linhe - Ballachulish Bay is just above the GPS antenna;
2) Fladda light, at the north of the Sound of Luing;
3) Scarba - beyond this place are dragons
4) Running with the (lazy) Grey Dogs (ebb tide, not too bouncy) - the current 'dog-legs' through the gap behind the light mast;
5) Surface contrasts in Corryvreckan. The smooth parts are upwellings; imagine driving on a road in an earth tremor, weird sensation;
6) Jura north coast;
7) I'm told that the bay just left of centre is a good viewpoint - take your seats early!
8) The GPS showing the bay and the underwater stack;
9) Riding into the sunset in Lamlash Bay...
10) ...at 30 knots

Nice timing to drag this up again...

...'cos we're off to Ballachulish in the morning to pick up the new boat

Should be out and about Tuesday/Wednesday getting some hours on the engines, so if anyone up there sees us give a shout. Or if you want to come out to play, we'll be anywhere between Tobermory & Fort William. Probably.

Trundle back to Arran on Thursday, same route as before (mostly), but calling in at Sanda for lunch, Mrs. G. says I never take her anywhere...

Cheers pal - if you can drag yourself away from your building set for a while we'll stand you a beer

As for taking it easy, I think 'Er Indoors would quite like to do some more driving. And she's still not forgiven me for doing the Grey Dogs/Corryvreckan thing without her So I suspect we might be making one or two wee detours over the next four days. (She's also got this thing about seeing Ardnamurchan Point from the wet side. Ho-hum.)

Thinks: isn't it about time for everyone else to de-hibernate yet?
