Mightily impressed as you performed doughnuts between the pontoons at Saxon this afternoon. A wonderful deep throated burble from the engine at tick over and a simply awesome boat.

Really pleased for you all after the trials and tribulations that you have come through. Here's to a troublefree and very profitable year.

Yes 2x 225 otpimaxs would be nice but 2 engines runing at 60-70 litres an hour EACH I doubt if i could afford to start them up let alone runing the boat across to yarmouth for lunch. The cat is a bit
on the heavy side at 1.2 tons but its a lot more affordable to run 65 litres an
hour at 28 knots.

tech spec question

Hi,
Great boat! I have a similar layout on mine but nowhere near the same overall power as we went for the twin merc option.

Can you tell me where your fuel tank is as I couldn't blow the image up enough to see.

What do you do with it!!

Do you find the trim is ok in heavy seas etc?

regards and have fun,
mike

I would imagine with that power and weight, the boat really doesn't see the Sea as "heavy".... just barges straight through. Tremendous looking combo.. I'm feeling a little inadequate with my "lightweight" petrol offering....

Cool. Look forward to seeing her around...

It's a lot of boat it weighs nearly 4 ton and yes it does knock the waves out of the way!. It's wierd however when the bow does come up on a big wave as it's a high bow anyway and the sky just turns orange. There is a real feling of momentum when you drive this boat. the bow is so high that my Dad (Rogue Wave) has to stand on the battery box to drive it, that will teach him to call me the Wavelet!

The engine only delivers 435 hp but it does it with 1600 foot pounds of sorque, so it's very suitable for heavy loads.....16 people or 4 tons of cargo It will be a charter boat but we will probably concentrate on Fast launch services to the commercial vessels!

Re Fuel Tank, It's positioned in front of the Engine box, we had a lot of trouble with the Stainless steel tank splitting so we installed a Vetus plastic one.

Avon 8.4

Thanks for the information,
mine is 8.5 with the engines and fuel tank towards the rear with clients going forward. Seems to be heavier than mine! (Tornado 8.5) 2600 kilos apprx.

The reason I asked was that when I bought it almost everyone from the traditional boaty fraternity in the locality stated she would be stern heavy and require ballast, since delivery I have been either too ill or too broke to launch but I guess this weekend we'll find out. My weight distribution is identical in location, thanks for the information.

thanks
mike

Mike, the all up weight of the boat is 2600kg and the weight of your two engines is 390kg. I think it will be fine on a boat of your length. Also dont forget you get a lot of bang for your buck with opti's so it will leap on the plane.

I also suspect your passengers will add a certain degree of ballast, where is the driving position? Tornado have been around for a long time and i am sure they got the boats balance right
