Glad you all found our little paradise island and liked it. If you're planning another cruise down it might be worth a call to the Sailing Club (01481 822959 tel/fax) as there's one or two rib races/cruises planned this year, which I'm pretty sure are open to non-local boats. Sometime in July and August I think.

And I presume you realise the personalised number plate on the Police wagon is AY 999 . And so nice to find a place where the last vestiges of freedom still exist where we don't have to wear car seatbelts or motorbike helmets.

And as far as passports and SSR go... well they're not needed for Alderney. Part of the British Isles you see, but nothing to do with the EU and not part of the UK either.

(Living in Jersey but close ties with Alderney)

Thanks for the info, Keith.

It was my first visit to any of the Channel Islands but will be the first of many! Alderney really is beautiful and I can't wait to come again and to explore the other islands too. Thanks for the tip about contacting the yacht club - will do!

Maybe next time we could meet up?

I got a lift to the petrol station with some jerrycans form local RIB enthusiast Roland Neale - who told me off when I instintively reached for the seatbelt! Very helpful bloke, is Roland.

I own a printing business, and would be happy to print up bunch. Only cost would be shipping them across the pond, but that shouldn't be too much...

Sue, if you're interested in exploring this, drop me a PM and we'll chat!

In Stoo's defence, someone else posted here instead of in "Cruise planning" which woke the thread up. I then deleted that post . . .

Anyway, did anything ever happen with the cartoons?

John
