And the two virgins in question are the US Virgin Islands... and the British Virgin Islands.

The fact that there are two women in one of the photos is merely coincidental…. (believe me!)

So, Aging Youth and I and our respective non-virgins have just returned from a spot of boating in the aforesaid Caribbean paradise… and here’s a few snaps. Captions welcome.

And before Kevin gets a chance to mention it, yes I was driving when we bent the prop a bit on a coral head…… But Kev was navigating!!!!…….

And I chipped a teensy weensy bit of gel coat on another boat too…. Well it should have had tubes round it, then it wouldn’t have happened. I never did like concrete docks!

Don’t boats without tubes wobble a lot?

Thank you for such a fantastic opportunity to experience the wonders of the caribbean. The boating was memorable, the cocktails to die for, the sharks unexpected and the turtle delightfull.

Cannot wait to go back again (very soon if all goes to plan). As soon as we have sorted out our software our photo's will be posted.

When are we going next?

Seriously though, and to broaden this thread for people not of the Solent Mafia…. If you’re looking for a great bit of tropical boating, in an area about the size of the Solent, then consider the British Virgin Islands.

Warm seas, clear water with tropical fish and coral galore, plus a countless number of islands to visit, many uninhabited.

Also, it’s not as expensive as you might think. Get a bucket shop ticket to Antigua from the UK and then a Caribbean LIAT flight will cost about £125 return to the BVI. Off season, (now), hotels start at about £60 up per room per night. Food is slightly dearer that the US but still on average cheaper than the UK. They use US Dollars as currency so it’s a good price at the moment.

Drop me a PM for more info, but if you want a boat to rent, I can thoroughly recommend the outfit we used. We rented a 23 foot ‘Contender’ - ‘Nikita’ from Island Time Ltd for about £150 per day. That’s big enough to get around all the main island collection in the Force 4’s we experienced. If it’s windy, there’s always an island to hide behind where the seas will be flat! They do also rent RIBS but not very big ones. Call Mark or Katrin and they will sort you out. Their website is http://www.islandtimeltd.com/
Nikita is in excellent condition, (apart from a half inch Gel Coat chip in the bow which some idiot put in it when he forget he wasn’t driving a RIB).

Now, we just need them to import some big RIBS we can rent!!!!!!!

But yes, it is the place to go everything you could possibly want for a boating trip.

We made the most of the time we had and boy did we have a great time

Andre, Paul & Kathleen andd all the Solenteer's, It was a fabulous holiday I am still coming back to reality. The Caribbean surpassed all my expectations, regardless of what you read you really have to visit the Islands for yourselves to really appreciate the beauty of the Islands.

We dived Royal Mail Ship Rhone one of the first Iron clad Steam ships to set sail, she lies in 80-100feet of water and visibility is 80 -100 feet and I had 26 degrees C on my dive computer. The Solent will never seem the same ever agian.

Will catch up with you all soon at the next Church meet.
