Height shouldn't be a major issue anyway as it is coming on the MOD ro-ro ship and I already have a quote for freight, they said not to worry about taking the aerial down.
Odd - Hightower's missing post has appeared now as well - though it could have stayed missing with the opening comment

Etec's apparently aren't supposed to need running in - but Roy did say they were mostly just running round at more reasonable speeds to make sure all was ok. No other way to decide on the props before despatch, and it's a long way to send them back for a swap

Etecs automatically add an extra dollop of 2 stroke during their run-in period and then reduce this at the appropriate juncture. Most new boats get a quick zip at higher revs during the sea trials, they just don't overdo it.

Yeh, well, that'll lubricate the the lower unit gears won't it... not.
Running in conditions the metal surfaces by allowing low stress contact not by preventing surface contact. A slug of extra oil will be more a security for the manufacturer against rough use than being an ideal way to break in the rubbing surfaces. IMHO of course.

I'll certainly not be caning it hard for the first few hours anyway, I'm not sure what the run-in period is on a normal outboard - what do the four stroke makers recommend?
I think I'll be changing the lower unit oil fairly early on as well, maybe 20hrs, certainly won't do any harm and as an ex Johnson owner I happen to have a couple of bottles of Ultra HPF under the bench in my garage which I forgot to give away with the old boat

Ours was on the road going to all the boat shows for a year before it was even started, at the time it was the top model in the range and I would love to know how many people had seen it on a stand and drooled over it like I still do now I'll grant you Ian's does take the biscuit, I never really understood why it took him so long to get it finished but some of the little details he spent loads of time on have really made the boat superb

Collected Seawolf this morning, happily it all arrived OK and in good condition, so after a bit of tinkering I went off for a couple of hours this afternoon
Bloody great, love the E-TEC, talk about get up and go, with the 19" Viper prop on it absolutely flies, I think the passenger may have been gibbering a little by the time he got off
Most immediate difference was that there is less sensation of speed due to the engine being so quiet, I started thinking that it was quite a choppy ride compared to the Humber but then I realised how fast I was actually going which was somewhere around the top speed of the Destroyer on flat water  reining in the ponies a bit it all got a lot more comfortable
