Yeah thanks for the jambo... Nothing worse than getting a glimpse of a window and seeing the sun out with a little breeze in the trees...

Hey..many thanks for the feedback guys. I wasnít sure if this type of report would be a success here or not.

I have more tales than Para Handy.. so there will be more since this one was appreciated so well.

I should have added slipways for access too... so here they are

Public slip at the head of Loch Ailort..no charge. No parking problems

Slip at Glenelg. Its a working slip for the local fishermen.. but.. I have asked and been given permission to use it ďAs long as I donít hold them up by using it when they are on it." No parking problems.

Slip onto sand at Ardtoe .. parking and honesty box..cost was 50p per day or £1 overnight last year.

There is also a marina at Arisaig Village..with all facilities..but it costs money. Normal marina type rates.

Beach launching for small boats possible in many places in Loch Ailort and also possible off the beach at Arisaig at high tide.

The campsite I landed at is on the mainland. .just before the north channel entrance going into Loch Moidart. You canít miss it as its mostly rocky cliffs apart from this point.

Although I live in Stirling area.. where there is no sea.. I go all over Scotland in my small boats.. including the beautiful Loch Sween and its fairy isles. So my reports can be from any area

I will start another one next week.. so watch out for it. Thank again to all for all the kind comments.

Gurnard, truly one of the (no, probably *the*) best threads I've ever seen on RIBnet. Inspirational and beautiful. It won't fit in with your enviable search for peace and solitude but you could have a nice sideline in guided SIB tours if you were to take some of us miserable lot with you!

I'd love to spend a week touring the area but your comments re' depth etc really shows the importance of local knowledge and expertise.

Very jealous.

Gurnard, a cracking read, I've sat and had a few drams on Goat Island!

That's all out my front door.

By the way, that's Glenuig pier, not glenelg.

That yellow Cheetah Cat belongs to a pal of mine who fishes creels.

"I had been puttering around the loch at slow tick over speed, as I respect the fact that others like their wilderness experience in peace and quiet too. But once past all habitation... I put my boat on the plane. I felt like a hooligan as I slashed a long white trail across such a sleepy seascape."

Epic pictures and a really enjoyable story
