"Trinity House has a policy of making its assets accessible to the public wherever possible and operates 10 Lighthouse Visitor Centres at various locations around the country, and Alderney in the Channel Islands. In addition passengers are also welcome on its flagship THV Patricia as she carries out her duties maintaining buoys and light ships around the coast."

When are we all having a cruise then???

Here's some pics of Nash Point. There are even bigger fog horns further along the top near the old lighthouse if I remember correctly.

A few more from today... Canada Day!

A few RIBS I passed heading out today....

The first is a tour boat that runs folks out to Flowerpot Island... It's a Hurricane 1010. They have a larger one as well that they had custom built...

The second one is owned by cottager... he made a fortune taking on the Provincial Government in a tainted water action. It's tender to a very nice sail boat!

The third is tender to a yacht visiting from the US... ably demonstrating the abilities of even a small RIB!

And another perfect day...

... spent diving and RIBing!

1) The west end of Bear's Rump Island... not so good for boats...

2) The cliffs along the north shore of the Bruce peninsula...

3) This big rock fell out a decade ago... I'm glad I wasn't under it at the time!

4) These stone beaches occur every few miles along the Peninsula. They're the remnants from the last ice age that formed the Great Lakes. The rocks up here all full of fossils from when the lakes were shallow salt seas...

Lovely pics and the weather looks great - better than our Force 8 and lashing rain!!!

Didn't realise you had a self righting bag - ever had to use it?

LOL... No... But I acquired my boat after it was flipped and abandoned by the Marine Police unit that owned it before me. I added the frame for antennae etc, so I figured I might as well go whole hog. I use the boat in fairly remote locations, with freekin' cold water, so it seemed like good insurance!

The Tobermory/Bruce Peninsula area is pretty special. I first came here about 32 years ago, fell in love with the place, and landed my first job here. Mind you when I travel to other parts of Canada, I realize what a gorgeous country we live in. The town is pretty islolated in winter though. It's not unusual for the only road (about 60 miles to the next town...) to be closed for a couple of days or more at a time due to white-outs and snow drifts!

Here's a link to an area photographer's site with a few professional shots... http://www.ethanmeleg.com/bruce.htm

Psychopic, we have lots of room over here, so come on over!

The Nuclear Verados will be out soon I'm sure... Unlimited range and no need for running lights at night!
