Oh and the XSR was bobbing around inside Hurst.

Did hear 'time bandit' and 'grimalkin' on the radio , but came back for bacon and coffee.

We also saw the heli running about twenty feet off the stern of a returning racer on Friday with the cameraman hanging out, You have to trust everyone onboard I guess that low and filming the action

Great pictures Pete.
We saw them going Westbound on our first trip out, very interesting to see how much the tracks differed between the boats.
Throughout the the rest of the day saw them coming back very well spaced apart.
With the strong Westerly wind, I did not envy them punching through for hours on end, the novelty would soon wear off.

Cheers - Louise took the pics as I tried not to get in anyones way. I found it bumpy back from Hurst - but then I don't weigh in at 8-14t like some of the bigger race boats - I even managed to take a wave over the bow which rolled nicely up the screen as I ducked and it mostly over my head!

Good photos!
I was in a borrowed orange Avon 5.6 RIB & confirm it was rather lumpy out there yesterday.
When we left Cowes at 3pm plastic tables were being blown accross the hard by the band tent. I have to say that I wasn't looking forward to the journey back to Poole as I edged out into the Solent but it was actually great fun. I'm so battered I can't move today though!

I was out yesterday (Monday) and saw one of these boats trying to get out of the South Basin of Cowes Yacht Haven - right into the path of the ferry coming in. To my inexperienced eye it looked incredibly close to being an 'incident'.
I think the ferry captain thought so too as he gave five blasts and had to stop rather promptly.

We did Poole, Yarmouth, Cowes & then back to Poole in the little Avon. I'm just waiting to hear when we get our medal for the sub 6m class...
The Cougar looks great BTW.
This rib looked dangerous as she came through the start. They really should have fitted a glass panel in the hull so they could see where they were going!

i may have some pics of you somewhere or maybe a shot on the video but need to sort through them. will post them if i do!
As for that rib.... gave us a little fright as it came through like this. not sure what or who it was but sure didnt look happy! i think it retired and went back up to cowes as we saw it hooning around the finish area as well.
As for the cougar, it was the first time we had it in any kind of sea and i was very pleased with it! plenty of low down grunt from the engine and grip from the prop to keep us comfortable. bit flighty into the head sea but think most things were yesterday! did you see that sunseeker (tomahawk or something, 45 odd feet) we saw clean air right under it on several occasions!!!

i don't know about cookee but i'm really sore, getting to old for all that, we did manage to finish but that wasn't before we got the old girl completely under water in lyme bay

Well if it was an XS200, I have never seen a picture of one riding level. They must be a real handful. I know Bob Turnbull in the white & blue one but I don't think he made the start as his seats worked loose during the muster to Hurst.
