888 / Yamaha 350

Just got back from a good trip to Athens and testing the new Technohull 888 leisure - fitted with a 350 Yamaha.

Really nice on the water - 22 degress, calm seas.....

Getting a best of 62 knots with the Yamaha - but probably more to coem with soem playing. Also the boat is built pretty heavy as a cruising boat.

Many thanks - yes the Ionion / Eastern Med has been really good for me and have had some great projects and a number of others underway.

Really nice places to work and made some really good friends as well.

You would probably have got more with a Verado 350 or anything that doesn't weigh so much - maybe 2x 300xs engines???

In other words - nice boat crap engine!!!

I think every other Techno I've seen in Greece has had a verado or two on it so they are well aware of the relative performance

Actually I was quite surprised that they went for the Yam - and actually a nice enough engine - but not for this type of boat. The engine behaved very well and could not say anything was really wrong with it - but at the same time it did not excite as an engine.

Most of the time they use Verado's and I think that would be much better too. Also there is one more race 888 in construction and that is going to have a pair of engines.

Another shot I quite like, as it shows the boat off the plane and how it is a bit different.

The hull was very much about performance - actually one of the most race based production RIBS that I have designed. (I would say 75 % towards a race RIB). But at the same time she has very good internal beam, good bow recovery and the end result has been a good all-round boat.
