We are having a year off from organising this year. CND on here, organised the whole of the Grafham Regatta singlehanded.

We will be at Bassenthwaite providing 4 RIBS and some rescue crews for the 2006 event.

CND and I are looking to buy a Topper ISO for the all comers race so we may have to thrash you

Bring it on!!!

Chris

Topper ISO's are quick but the RS200 has to be on of my favourite skiffs, no trapeze though, but nice to sail and quick.

Loved all the pics but rather small.

Have you tried the Microsoft powertoys tool for image resizing? It is SO easy to use - just select all the pics you want and right click - choose small which is 640x480.

Here it is if you need it.

No we normally are sponsored by Topper and Dinghy Sailing Mag but it was easier to use the racing marks from Grafham than lug the marks that the Association has from round the UK to Grafham!

Codprawn thanks for the link...

30 Ribs, 7 days, 180 dinghies, 300+ Kids, 100 adult helpers

It sure is impressive seeing that many boats on the water. I was at Grafham last year for the optimist end of season championships in October and we had 300ish optimists on the water with 35/40 RIBs which is an impressive sight.

We have 3 main events with these numbers - Inland Championships in May (at Grafham this year), National Championships (at Pwllheli) (about 70 RIBs and 350 optimists for the whole week!), and the End of Season Championships (being held at Rutland in October 2006) with about 35 ribs and 300ish optimists again.

If you can't imagine what its like with this many boats launching from one place at one time, pop along to Grafham, Pwllheli or Rutland when the events are on (details on www.optimistsailing.org.uk) and see for yourself.

I'd like to thank the Launch and Recovery crews at the clubs where we sail for getting the ribs out in an orderly and timely manner.

I have to agree its great to see that many boats in one place and with rescue and safety being their number one concern... Just got back from Rutland where there was the tiger trophy, 250 boats sailing one course!!! Fair enough light airs but when we decided we were going to get wet (A mistake of course) these guys were there straight away!! Me and my crew always say about rescue cover at these events, they are all people who give up their time to look after us, and alot of them use their own equipment etc.....

Hopefully we're having a go at the round the island race in June looks like it could be a first for an 18 foot skiff, so looks like my rib will be out that day as our support boat!!!!

But if any of you guys are out there who support these events and give up your own time a huge thanks from us all.....
